Marble is a calcium based stone meaning it’s soft (susceptible to scratching) and acid sensitive. Marble can usually be easily identified by its “veiny” look. More often than not we see marble in a polished state. Occasionally we run into floors with a honed look but it’s definitely not as popular. If your marble is dirty, dull-looking, or etched don’t replace it! SacSurfacePro specializes in marble cleaning in Sacramento and can restore your floor to make it look like new again. See what our cleaning, polishing, restoration, and protection services can do for your marble.

Over the years high traffic areas will become dull due to everyday abuse from shoes, pebbles or rocks brought in from the outside can take their toll on marble floors. We find that the edges are usually still shiny as the are not walked on or subjected to any abuse. Every once in awhile we come across a marble floor which has been cleaned with something acidic such as vinegar or Pine Sol. Because of its sensitivity to acids it only takes ONE time cleaning with these types of  cleaners to etch the stone and will make your entire floor dull. Choose a stone specific neutral pH cleaner to prevent these issues! If your marble is dull schedule through our online booking option or give us a call to restore the shine.

Often when marble cleaning in Sacramento we are asked to clean 10 year old marble floors which have never been professionally cleaned. Most of the time we find residue from cleaner build up creating a false sheen on the surface of the marble. Once cleaned the look is somewhat changed because the stone has gradually changed to its current state. We can add a little more sheen or make it more honed (soft matte look) depending on your preference.

Another thing we encounter with older marble which has not been professionally cleaned regularly is surface inconsistency even after we clean the tile and grout. Cleaning will remove the dirt and soil but will not take care of these inconsistencies. We always recommend our clients buff marble if it has been many years since it has been cleaned. The buffing will remove the inconsistencies (not the the natural occurring mineral changes) and leave you with a more uniform look.

Note: Buffing can remove light etching but will not remove deep etches in the stone. We can remove these but it will require more focused work in these areas.
